Hola a todos!! Mucho tiempo sin escribir en el blog, pero es que este último mes no he parado y ya es hora de actualizarlo. Y que mejor que hablar sobre las vacaciones de primavera dónde mi amiga Gema y yo fuimos a Belgrado, la capital de Serbia y de la antigua Yugoslavia.

Para empezar fue un viaje muy tranquilo y rápido en una van, cuando llegamos buscamos nuestro hostel en pleno centro, al principio fue un poco confuso ya que las calles estaban en cirílico, pero cuando lo conseguimos, el lugar era muy tranquilo, muy limpio, pero eso sí, en una sexta planta sin ascensor. Después de una noche de descanso, fuimos a visitar la ciudad, en pleno centro fuimos a la calle principal (Mihailova street) y a la oficina de turismo dónde cogimos mapas y nos explicaron los lugares de interés. Fuimos a la Fortaleza, allí hicimos varias fotos de los ríos y del lugar, el centro, los monumentos principales y después de una mañana sin parar, comimos en un restaurante típico comida y bebida serbia, un queso riquísimo.

Después de un buen almuerzo, decidimos ir al barrio bohemio (Skadarlija), una calle muy bonita con varios bares y restaurantes, tomamos un buen chocolate y volvimos al hostel donde cenamos y preparamos la noche donde acabamos en un club tomando cocktail escuchando música en vivo.

El viernes decidimos visitar la parte más lejana de la ciudad donde está el Templo de St. Savas, el templo ortodoxo más grande de Europa, el cual era impresionante y cruzamos la ciudad en un tranvía típico y fuimos al otro lado de la ciudad, Novi Belgrad donde dimos un paseo a lo largo del río. Después de una jornada tranquila pasamos la noche con mi amiga Milica, que conocí en 2009 en unas prácticas IAESTE en Polonia, fuimos a distintos bares y lugares dónde disfrutamos una gran velada de música, bebida y recuerdos.

El sábado nos tomamos el día de relax, fuimos a comprar unos souvenirs por el centro y a tomar algo por los barrios pintorescos y los impactantes edificios destrozados por las bombas de la guerra. La última noche nos encontramos con Ivana de IAESTE y terminamos en una cervecería típica y a la mañana siguiente, un largo viaje para volver a casa.
Pero mereció la pena, un viaje increible.

Aunque esto fue el principio de un sin parar, al día siguiente comenzaría mi viaje a Zemplinska Sirava al este del país para el Mid-Training, pero eso será el siguiente post.

Hello to all! Long time no blogging, but this last month I have not stopped and it's time to upgrade. And what better to talk about my spring break where my friend Gemma and I went to Belgrade, capital of Serbia of old Yugoslavia.

Orthodox Church

Firstly, was a very quiet and quick trip in a van, when we arrived, we were looking for our hostel in the center, at first it was a little confusing because the streets were in Cyrillic, but when we got it, the place was very quiet, very clean, but yes, on the sixth floor with no lift. After a restful night, we went to visit the city, in the center we went to the main street (Mihailova street) and tourist office where we took maps and explained the sights. We went to the Fortress, there we took several photos of the rivers and place, the center, the main monuments and after a morning without stopping, we ate in a typical restaurant Serbian food and drink, a delicious serbian cheese.

After a nice lunch, we went to the bohemian district (Skadarlija), a very nice street with several bars and restaurants, take a good chocolate and returned to the hostel where we had dinner and prepared the night where we ended up at a club drinking cocktail listening live music.

Temple of Sava

On Friday we decided to visit the farthest part of the city where the Temple of St. Savas, the largest Orthodox church in Europe, which was awesome and we crossed the city in a typical tram and went to the other side of town, Novi Belgrad where we strolled along the river. After a quiet day spent the night with my friend Milica, who I met in 2009 in an internship IAESTE Poland, we went to different bars and places where we enjoyed a great evening of music, drinks and memories.

On Saturday we had a relaxing day, we went to buy some souvenirs from the center and drink in the stunning picturesque neighborhoods and buildings destroyed by bombs of the war. Last night we met my friend Ivana from IAESTE and ended up in a typical brewery, and the next morning, a long journey back home .
But it was worth it, an incredible journey.

Although this was the beginning of a non-stop, the next day would start my trip to Zemplinska Siravato the east of the country for the Mid -Training, but that will be the next post.

Aquí estoy después de bastante tiempo. Después de la visita a Brno, seguimos con el proyecto y ese fin de semana varios voluntarios fuimos a Jelsava, una ciudad muy pobre de Eslovaquia donde hay una gran comunidad gitana, allí nos invitaron las voluntarias que trabajan allí para organizar actividades y juegos con la gente de allí. Fue espectacular el ambiente que se respiraba allí, una ciudad casi fantasma, muy pobre, en ruinas, pero con su encanto particular. Ha sido una gran experiencia ver la ilusión de la gente por conocer culturas nuevas y gente de otros países y nosotros aportando lo que podamos para ver unas sonrisas en sus caras.

Después de un proyecto genial, donde conocimos nuevos voluntarios y echamos unas risas en el pueblo, volvimos a nuestras respectivas ciudades.

La semana fue normalita, segui con mis actividades en el centro social, las clases con los alumnos, contentos porque ahora son las vacaciones de primavera y mientras en el centro de ocio, estamos preparando más proyectos para el verano, el intercambio juvenil, el maratón de cine y nuevas propuestas para mi trabajo que ya os iré contando.

Lo mejor de la semana fue el viaje a la caldera del volcán que hay aquí cerca, fue un día de hicking genial, mucha nieve, caminar, lagos helados y un día diferente.

Para terminar, el fin de semana de San Valentín, el instituto me invitó al Ball que había en la casa de la cultura, un evento muy típico, con música, baile, comida, tómbola. Una noche genial donde encontré con mucha gente y buen ambiente. 

Bueno, pues otra semana que acaba, pero empiezo un par de semanas sin parar, viaje a la capital de Serbia, Mid-training en Zemplinska Sirava y APV en la capital de Eslovenia. Proximamente leereis sobre mis nuevas aventuras.

Ball

Here I am after some time. After the visit to Brno, we continue with the project and that weekend several volunteers went to Jelsava, a poor city in Slovakia where there are a large Roma community, the volunteers who work there to organize activities and games with people there. It was a great atmosphere that reigned, almost a ghost town, very poor, in ruins, but with its own charm. It was a great experience to see the illusion of people to meet new people from other cultures and countries and contributing what we can to see some smiles on their faces.

After a great project, where we met new volunteers and we spent a few laughs in the village, we returned to our respective cities.

The week was average, followed by my activities at the community center, classes with students happy because now they have spring break and while in the leisure center, we are preparing more projects for the summer, youth exchange, the marathon film and new proposals for my work, and I'll be telling.

Best of the week was the trip to the crater near my city, it was a great day hicking, much snow, walking, frozen lakes and a different day.

Finally, the weekend of Valentine's Ball, the school invited me, was in the house of culture, an event very typical, with music, dancing, food. A great night where I met many people and good atmosphere.

Well, just another week, but I start a couple of weeks straight, travel to the capital of Serbia, Mid -training in Zemplinska Sirava and APV in the capital of Slovenia.

Carnival in Zilina - Brno (Czech Republic)

Aquí estoy de vuelta, y voy a contaros que tal todo en este tiempo que hay muchas novedades y planes futuros.

Carnival in Zilina

El tiempo pasa super rápido y ya llevo aquí 4 meses, muchas cosas han pasado, una de las últimas fue en Zilina, unos amigos EVS organizaron en su asociación un carnaval donde fuimos varios voluntarios de toda Eslovaquia. Fue un fin de semana genial donde con mi amigo Thomas de Inglaterra ví Zilina y donde nos encontramos con viejos amigos y nuevos dónde hicimos unos disfraces geniales.

Sobre mi proyecto, todo marcha espectacular, cada vez estoy más involucrado en el instituto, donde organizamos sesiones debates, juegos, etc. Las clases de idiomas van fenomenal y las manualidades en el centro social gustan mucho. También estamos preparando varios proyectos para el verano y la posible llegada de más voluntarios. Este mes será increible, vamos a colaborar en un proyecto con otra organización, sesiones de cines y otro encuentro con EVS para los jóvenes de la localidad. Ya se verá como va todo. Aparte de que a final de mes en las vacaciones de primavera, estamos organizando un viaje a Belgrado y después el Curso Intermedio en un bello enclave.

Mendel

Siguiendo con la historia, estuve de visita a mi amigo Ales en Brno en la República Checa, fue un fin de semana muy frío pero conocí a un montón de gente, unas fiestas geniales y ví la vida estudiantil de la ciudad y a Mendel en su museo, no podía faltar esa visita de un biólogo al padre de la Genética ;)

Aquí en Detva llegó el invierno, con muchas nevadas y frio, esa semana fue muy divertida pero ya estamos otra vez casi en primavera, se derritió todo y están haciendo unas temperaturas suaves. Pero nunca se sabe.

Here I am back , and I'll tell you that all this time there are many new developments and future plans.

Cold and Snow :)

Time goes fast and I've been here four months, many things have happened, one of the last was in Zilina, EVS friends organized a carnival where we were several volunteers from all over Slovakia. It was a great weekend where I was with my friend of Zilina, Thomas from England and we meet old friends and new where we did some great costumes for the party.

On my project, goes run well, every time I am more involved in school, where we organize debates sessions, games and more. Language classes are phenomenal and crafts at the social center like a lot. We are also developing several projects for the summer and the possible arrival of more volunteers. This month will be amazing, I will collaborate on a project with another organization, session dates and another encounter with EVS for local youth. We'll see how everything goes. Besides ends meet on spring brea , we are planning a trip to Belgrade and then the Mid-trainig course in a beautiful setting.

Continuing with the story, I visited my friend Ales in Brno in the Czech Republic, was a weekend very cold but I met a lot of people, a great holiday and saw the student life of the city and Mendel in his museum, I could not miss the visit of a biologist to the Father of Genetics ;)

Here in Detva winter came, with many snow and cold, this week was very funny but we're almost  in spring again, all snow is melted and mild temperatures are making. But one never knows.

Comienzo de un nuevo año - Starting a new year

Hola de nuevo

Casi dos semanas sin escribir, pero ha sido la vuelta a la rutina, los viajes de fin de semana, los cuales os voy a contar en esta entrada.

La vuelta al trabajo ha sido muy buena, el reencuentro con los compañeros, la vuelta a las clases, con cambio de metodología de enseñanza, con más listening y sistema audiovisual. Ya os contaré como va avanzando todo.

Los lunes sigo en el centro social haciendo actividades con los niños, que las explicaré en otra entrada especial y en el centro juvenil estamos preparando unas cuantas actividades, entre ellas un intercambio para el verano, un torneo de ping-pong y varios proyectos en mente.

Aparte de todo esto, me espera unos meses moviditos de proyectos y viajes, ya os comentaré.

Mientras, los fines de semana los dedico al ocio, el primero vino a visitarme Ales de Eslovenia que está estudiando erasmus en Brno e hicimos fiesta sin parar, conoció la discoteca de mi ciudad y también pasamos un buen rato en la inauguración de la casa de la cultura, para terminar el sábado en Ministry of Fun.

El siguiente finde fuimos un grupo a Tvrdosin, al norte de Eslovaquia cerca de la frontera polaca, allí conocimos a varios EVS, estudiantes y profesores, celebramos una fiesta española con sangría, tortilla y ensaladilla rusa. Fue un fin de semana diferente y entretenido dónde nos volvimos a encontrar varios amigos.

Un proyecto enriquecedor, pero un invierno nublado, un poco lluvioso, sin nieve, y con noches muy largas, pero poco a poco alargándose los días.

Hello again

Alba and me in Tvrdosin

Almost two weeks without writing, but has been the return to routine, traveling weekend, which I will tell you in this post.

Returning to work has been very good, the reunion with mates, return to classes changing teaching methodology, with more listening and audio-visual system. I'll tell you how will be the progresses.

Tvrdosin

On Mondays I am still going to the social center doing activities with the children, that I will explain in another special entry and at the youth center we are preparing a few activities, including a youth exchange for the summer, a tournament tennis and several projects in mind .

Beyond that, I have a few months really busy with projects and travel, and I will comment you .

Meanwhile, I spend weekends to leisure, firstly came to visit Ales from Slovenia who is studying erasmus in Brno, we did a lot of party and we did not stop, he met the nightclub in my town and had a good time at the opening of the house culture, to finish Saturday in Ministry of Fun.

The next weekend we went Tvrdosin, northern Slovakia near the Polish border, there we met several EVS people, held a party with Spanish sangria, tortilla and potato salad. Was so different and entertaining week where we returned to find several friends.

A rewarding project, but a cloudy winter, a little rain, no snow, and very long nights, (I NEED SUN) but gradually longer days.

NAVIDADES 13/14 - CHRISTMAS

Hola, aquí estoy de vuelta después de un largo tiempo.

Os voy a contar como fueron mis vacaciones de Navidad.

Para empezar recibí la visita de una amiga de Bratislava, celebramos una noche de navidad con regalos y mostrándole la ciudad y pasando un día divertido.

El 24 de Diciembre lo pasé en casa de unos amigos, y celebramos esa noche de una manera totalmente tradicional, al principio tomando una oblea con miel y ajo para la buena suerte, una sopa de repollo y pescado rebozado. 

Después fuimos a ver una representación de la natividad muy típica de esta zona, muy curioso y algo diferente, donde los cristianos intentan convertir a la religión a los pastores paganos.

El 27 empezó mi viaje, hice una parada en Praga, donde disfruté de su navidad y después marché para Lausanne en Suiza, allí me encontré con mi viejo amigo Rafa de Portugal que está trabajando allí.

Fue una semana espectacular, fui a una jornada de trabajo con él, visitamos la ciudad y las maravillosas vistas del lago y las montañas, celebramos la nochevieja con amigos internacionales pero sin faltar las uvas de la suerte. 

Con mi amigo Lukas, me enseñó Luzern, una maravillosa ciudad y cruzamos el lago en barco y después subimos en teleférico al Monte Rigi, donde hicimos una ruta de senderismo hasta la cima, y con unas vistas increibles del paisaje, terminando la ruta en una fábrica de galletas y degustarlas de manera gratuita y visitar la bonita ciudad de Berna, la capital de Suiza y su centro histórico protegido por la UNESCO.

Unas increibles vacaciones, dónde me reencontré con viejos amigos, nuevas aventuras y un país totalmente diferente con una naturaleza espectacular.

Hi I 'm back here after a long time.

I'll tell you how was my Christmas holidays.

To begin I was visited by a friend from Bratislava, we held a Christmas night with gifts and showing the city and having a fun day.

December 24th was spent at a friend's house, and we celebrate that night in a totally traditional way, at first taking a wafer with honey and garlic for luck, cabbage soup and fish batter.

Then we went to see a representation of the Nativity very typical of this area, very curious and something different, where Christians try to convert the heathen religion pastors.

The 27th started my journey, I made a stop in Prague, where I enjoyed the Christmas and then I left for Lausanne in Switzerland, where I met with my old friend Rafa from Portugal who is working there .

It was a great week, I spent a day working with him, visited the city and the wonderful views of the lake and mountains, celebrate New Year's Eve with international friends but without forget the 12 grapes of luck.

With my friend Lukas, I visited Luzern, a wonderful city and we cross the lake by boat and then jumped on the cable car to Mount Rigi, where we did a hiking trail to the top, and with stunning views of the landscape, finishing the route in a biscuit factory and taste them for free and visit the beautiful city of Bern, the Swiss capital and its historic center protected by UNESCO.

An incredible holiday, where I met again with old friends, new adventures and a totally different country with a spectacular nature.
